Natural Wonders Of Europe

 Natural Wonders Of Europe
Europe is the second smallest of the world's continents, composed of the westward-projecting peninsulas of Eurasia and occupying nearly one-fifteenth of the world's total land area. It is also known as the old continent.Below is a list of Recommended Natural Wonders of Europe.
Iceland’s Natural Wonders
Iceland is a place that is very different then you would have imagined it to be. Glaciers, geysers, solfataras, waterfalls, volcanoes, raging rivers.Means full of wonders that you can not believe until you see your self or see information about it.
Aurora Borealis
The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are discharged particles from the sun that pass through the magnetic shield of earth and create light when they mix with atoms and molecules such as nitrogen and oxygen gases on entering into the earth's atmosphere. These particles travel 149 million kms or 93 million miles through space towards planet earth being drawn towards the earth's magnetic north and south polar regions.Iceland also experiences two seasonal phenomena – the Northern Lights and the Midnight Sun. The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, occur on clear nights from October to March when solar activity creates curtains and waves of light in the night sky.
The Golden Circle
The Golden Circle is a popular tourist route in South Iceland, covering about 300 km looping from Reykjavík into central Iceland and back. The three primary stops on the route are the national park Þingvellir, the waterfall Gullfoss (meaning "golden falls"), and the geothermally active valley ofHaukadalur, which contains the geysers Geysir and Strokkur. The main attraction is a Iceland called the Golden Circle, the most popular tourist route in Iceland and includes the highest waterfall in Europe, the oldest geyser in the world, the valley formed by tectonic plate movement of the Euro-Asian and North American plates and a glacier lake, that has a aquamarine color, right in the heart of a volcanic crater.
The nearby geyser Strokkur erupts much more frequently than Geysir, erupting to heights of up to 20 metres every five minutes or so. Strokkur's activity has also been affected by earthquakes, although to a lesser extent than the Great Geysir. There are around thirty much smaller geysers and hot pools in the area, including one called Litli Geysir ('Little Geysir')The specific colours of geysers derive from the fact that despite the apparently harsh conditions, life is often found in them (and also in other hot habitats)there is alsoa colorful volcanic crater near Geysir park.
Vatnajökull & Grímsvötn

Vatnajökull (Lake Glacier) is the largest glacier in Iceland. It is located in the south-east of the island, covering more than 8% of the country, with a size of 8,100 km², it is the largest glacier in Europe. The average thickness of the ice is about 400 m, with a maximum thickness of more than 1,000 m.Under the glacier, as under many of the glaciers of Iceland, there are several active volcanoes.According to Guinness World Records Vatnajökull is the object of the world's longest sight line, 550 km (340 miles) from Slættaratindur, the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands.
The Grímsvötn lakes (Icelandic: vötn, singular: vatn) are lakes in Iceland. They lie in the highlands of Iceland at the northwestern side of the Vatnajökull glacier and are covered by its ice cap. Beneath them is a large magma chamber of a powerful volcano. The location of the lakes is 64°25'N 17°20'W? / ?64.417°N 17.333°W? / 64.417; -17.333, at an elevation of 1,725 m (5,659 ft).Grímsvötn has a southwest-northeast-trending fissure system, and the massive climate-impacting Laki fissure eruption of 1783-1784 was a part of the same fissure system. Grímsvötn was erupting at the same time as Laki during 1783, but continued to erupt until 1785. Because most of the volcano lies underneath Vatnajökull, most of its eruptions have been subglacia
Black sand beach
Vik Beach is located in a small village located in the southern part of Iceland. Though you may think Iceland isn’t the prettiest place on Earth to go to enjoy a beach, Vik Beach was nominated one of the most beautiful beaches on Earth in 1991. Though this beach isn’t the best one to lie out and soak up some sun, it is definitely a marvel to see.
